After many years of musical activity using only songs composed by other authors, this section presents tracks written by Beppe Martinelli—compositions created as far back as 1989, which only recently have found the opportunity to be published on most major music streaming services, thanks to the collaboration with the Distrokid team based in New York.
All recordings were made in home recording with very simple equipment, including a personally assembled PC, an M-Audio Air 192/4 audio interface, Sennheiser and Shure microphones for live performances, and a Komplete A61 keyboard by Native Instruments.
The sounds in the recordings come mostly from Native Instruments libraries, while all tracks were mixed using Ableton Live 11 and 12. There was no particular ambition behind the production—none of the songs were processed by sound engineers or industry professionals. The final results you’ll hear were achieved simply by listening carefully to the overall mix through Audio-Technica ATH-M50x headphones, then adjusting the equalization after comparing the outcome with KRK Systems studio monitors and low-cost car speakers.
Each composition will be introduced with anecdotes, background stories, curiosities, information about when the piece was written, when it was recorded and released, which instruments were used, and whether there were collaborations with other artists involved in the creation of the track.
